Thoughts From the Coffee Table: If you are only going to bloom for one day, make sure to give it all you’ve got!
We bought a Hibiscus tree a few weeks ago. I actually had no idea what I was getting, but I knew it was pretty. Three separate stalks have been trained together, one bearing flowers of orange, the others yellow and red.
Watching these flowers every day has been a joy. But each morning I find the flower, curled up on the ground, resembling the colorful bubblegum cigars we used to buy at the candy store. (I know…I can’t imagine it anymore either)
These amazing works of natural art only last one single, solitary day.
At first I was saddened by this, wondering how something so beautiful could be robbed of longer life. And then I started to watch them more closely, enjoying the late afternoon sun when they are at their peak before slowly and graciously bowing goodbye.
None of us know how long we have. But it is always certainly less time than we would like.
Personally and professionally, we have a time to shine. To show the world all that we have to offer. To be proud of who we are and what we have accomplished.
To be brave in the sun, and gracious as dusk approaches.
Ever thankful for each short moment.
