Thoughts From the Coffee Table: Life might be a box of chocolates, but heaven is filled with Macaroons.
I can see it now. The light at the end of the tunnel. Vaccines getting rolled out. Businesses coming back. Hints of Spring.
One year ago I was working on slide decks for 5 speaking gigs, my hubby was packing for a business trip, and I was contemplating dinner plans for my upcoming birthday.
All but one of those speaking gigs were canceled, that was the last business trip my husband would go on, and my birthday dinner was the last time we had a “normal” meal surrounded by strangers sitting right next to us.
I’m tired of looking back at what we lost. I only intend to see where we are heading now. Call it a mind trick, but it does seem to be working.
We had friends over for dinner this weekend. They have been part of our bubble and a joyful constant. We laugh at our own stories, make plans for travel together, and only look forward.
As the evening came to a close, we nibbled on chocolates and macaroons. We guessed at which color corresponded with the listed flavors and argued over whether the apricot really tasted like apricot.
We playfully argued over who got what. It was an adventure. The unknown.
Filled with delicious possibilities.
